Which level do you need?

A proposed change to the law would raise the level for permanent residence to B114. It is a proposal, not the law.

How it works

  1. Learn in short units.

Each unit teaches what the exam asks at A2, with grammar explained for English speakers.

  2. Practise like the exam.

Type and say your answers. Feedback is written in advance, never generated on the spot.

  3. Check where you stand.

Take mock exams for an estimate of where you stand in each part, against its pass line.

Try a question

My name is Ana.

Answer this and a few more from the first lesson, checked the way the app checks them.

Every part passes on its own.

To pass at A2 you need at least 60%710 in every part of the exam, each on its own. A strong part cannot make up for a weak one.

The app's mock exams give you an estimate of each part against its lines, from your own results. It is an estimate, not a promise of your exam result.

What's in the app

Speak your answers.

Speech recognition runs on your phone. Your voice stays there: recordings are deleted after each answer unless you choose to keep them.

Or type them.

Every exercise you are asked to speak can be typed instead.

Feedback that explains.

Feedback is written in advance, never generated on the spot. It tells you in English what went wrong.

Works offline.

Every lesson and exercise works with no connection.

Grammar for English speakers.

Grammar is taught in the order that suits English speakers, and every Slovene word form is checked against Sloleks.

Full mock exams.

Sit the whole exam the way it is set out, every part with its timing.

How we use numbers

  • Every exam figure on this site names its source and the date we checked it.
  • We don't promise a pass, a date or a number of hours.
  • We are not part of, or approved by, the exam centre (CSDTJ, University of Ljubljana).

Questions

The exam

Is this the official exam app?

No. The exam is run by the Centre for Slovene as a Second and Foreign Language (CSDTJ) at the University of Ljubljana. Besedica is independent: it is not affiliated with the centre or approved by it.

2

Will this app make me pass?

We can’t promise that, and nobody honestly can. To pass at A2 you need at least 60% of the points in each of the exam’s 4 parts; B1 needs 85%. The app’s practice follows those parts and shows how much you’ve practised each one, so you can see what needs work.
